SEIZED HELICOPTERS BY CUSTOM WERE IMPORTED BY AMAECHI - WIKE

Revelation about the ownership of the two imported armored helicopters seized in Lagos airport finally surfaced. On Friday,
customs announced that it had handed over the aircraft it impounded in November, to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to aid the fight against insurgency in the Northern part of the country.

The two armored helicopters seized by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) were said to have been ordered by the immediate past administration, Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state. The helicopters were strictly for security use.
Gov.Nyesom Wike, the incumbent governor faulted the claim of NCS about the owner of the aircraft not known. He noted that because of the high custom duties the helicopters attracted, and the “refusal of the federal government to grant waiver”,he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari, and advised him to hand over the helicopters to the air force . Amaechi, the former governor of the state is yet to respond to the claims made by his predecessor. Hopefully in due course further revelation will avail.
